How to Redeem Costco Cash Back Rewards

The Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi gives Costco members many opportunities to earn cash back rewards on their purchases. The cash back rewards are redeemable as a certificate each year at U.S. Costco locations, including Puerto Rico, to cardmembers that have an active account in good standing, and you may use it in a couple of ways.

Let’s explore how to earn and redeem cash back rewards with the Costco Anywhere Visa Card.

How to earn Cash Back Rewards

With the Costco Anywhere Visa Card, you earn cash back at any merchant that accepts Visa. This credit card also offers accelerated cash back on certain spending categories:

  • Earn 5% cash back rewards on gas at Costco
  • Earn 4% cash back rewards on other eligible gas and electric vehicle (EV) charging. The 5% and 4% earn is on a combined $7,000 spend per year, and then 1% thereafter
  • Earn 3% cash back rewards on restaurants and eligible travel, including Costco Travel
  • Earn 2% cash back rewards on all other purchases from Costco and Costco.com
  • Earn 1% cash back on all other purchases

Cash back rewards will be provided as an annual credit card reward certificate in February billing statements, redeemable for cash or merchandise at U.S. Costco warehouses, including Puerto Rico.

Keep in mind that reward certificates expire on December 31st of the year in which they’re issued. The expiration date will be listed on your reward certificate.

With a bit of planning, the Costco Anywhere Visa Card can help you maximize your Costco membership, earning cash back rewards and redeeming them for the shopping you already do.

How can I earn even more Cash Back Rewards?

Alongside your Costco Anywhere Visa Card, a Costco Executive Membership may help you earn more with your Costco shopping. A Costco Executive membership is an additional upgrade fee of $65 per year and earns an annual 2% Reward, up to $1,250, on qualified Costco, Costco.com and Costco Travel purchases.
