Works with these products:

Spend & Save1:

With Spend & Save, purchases made using your enrolled Citibank® Debit Card and/or Citi® credit card(s) will round up to the next whole dollar — the difference is automatically added to your round-up tally and transferred from your designated checking account to your designated savings account.

For example, if you spend $5.25, we'll add $0.75 toward a running tally of round-ups. The total from your round-up tally will be transferred from your designated checking account to your designated savings account. Your original purchase amount will stay the same, and any applicable interest, fees and rewards are based on that amount.

  • Enroll your Citibank Debit Card or Citi credit card(s) in Spend & Save on Citi® Online or the Citi Mobile® App2
  • Designate the Citi® checking and savings accounts that funds in your round-up tally will be transferred from and to
  • Choose the frequency of the transfers — either daily or weekly.* Limits apply. Transfers won’t happen if the balance is less than $50.

Earn & Save3:

  • Enroll your designated Citi checking account and Citi savings account in the Earn & Save feature via Citi® Online or the Citi Mobile® App2

1. Spend & Save — Terms & Conditions

When you enroll in Spend & Save, you will designate a Citi® checking account as a Source Account and Citi® savings account as a Destination Account. The Source Account and Destination Account need to be linked under the same Citi® Online and Citi Mobile® App login information in order to be designated. When you make a purchase using a Citi credit or debit card from your designated “Spending Accounts”, we’ll round up each transaction amount to the nearest whole dollar (your actual purchase amount won’t increase). So, if you spend $5.25, we’ll add $0.75 towards a running tally of round-ups. Your original purchase amount will remain the same, and any applicable interest, fees, and rewards earned are based on that amount. Pending purchases will not be included in the roundup tally until deemed final, as these amounts may change after posting. Business checking and savings accounts are not eligible for Spend & Save. Purchases with Citi business credit or debit cards will not contribute to your round-up tally.

The total from your round-ups tally (up to $15) will be transferred from your designated Citi checking account (“Source Account”) to your designated Citi savings account (“Destination Account”) based on the frequency you choose, either daily or weekly.

If you selected daily transfers, your first transfer will take place on the following day, but only if you made purchases that counted towards your round-up tally and they have posted to your account. If you selected weekly transfers, your first transfer will take place on the next occurrence of the day of the week you chose.

The maximum round-up transfer amount is $15 for Spend & Save. If you accumulate more than $15 in your round-up tally, any amount over $15 will be added to your next scheduled transfer tally.

When enrolling in Spend & Save, you will be asked to select a minimum available balance amount below which Citi will not initiate a Spend & Save transfer. You must select a minimum available balance amount that is greater than or equal to $50. So, if you set a $50 minimum available balance amount and your Source Account’s available balance is below $50 at the time of a scheduled Spend & Save transfer, Citi will not initiate the transfer to savings.

If your Source Account’s available balance is below your chosen minimum balance on your scheduled transfer date, Citi will look at your available balance for the next two calendar days. Citi will complete your transfer if your balance meets the minimum available balance on one of those days. If your Source Account’s available balance is below your chosen minimum balance on your scheduled transfer day and the next two consecutive calendar days, Citi will automatically unenroll you from Spend & Save.

While your available balance is below the minimum balance amount, round-ups will continue to tally from your credit or debit purchases.

After enrolling in Spend & Save, you can view your previous Spend & Save activity, such as past Spend & Save transfers and the purchases included in a round-up tally, directly from your Spend & Save dashboard. You can also view previous transfers to savings in Citi Mobile and Citi Online by viewing your account statements or transaction history. Your Citi account statements are the official record of your account activity.

After enrollment, you can view and track your current round-ups tally, as well as edit your enrolled “Spending Accounts”, transfer frequency, or required minimum balance amount at any point directly from your Spend & Save dashboard. You can also unenroll from Spend & Save directly from your Spend & Save dashboard. Spend & Save transfers may be deemed recurring variable electronic fund transfers. Accordingly, you acknowledge and agree such transfers may be in any amount from $00.01 to $15.00 and will occur at the frequency you set at enrollment or upon changing your options. You will not receive advance notice of these transfers except as described above.

2. Regular account charges apply. Citibank does not charge you a fee for using the Citi Mobile App. You must have Internet access through your mobile device and charges from your wireless carrier may apply. The Citi Mobile App is available for use with compatible mobile devices.

3. Earn & Save – Terms and Conditions

When you are enrolled in Earn & Save, then every time a new direct deposit is made into your designated Citi checking account (“Source Account”), a portion of that deposit will be automatically transferred to your designated Citi savings account (“Destination Account”). The amount transferred is determined by you during enrollment and can be a percent of each deposit or a fixed dollar amount.

A direct deposit refers to an Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) transfer of funds to your checking account that is typically for payroll, pension, federal or state benefits (including social security) from an employer, government agency or other organization. Please note that other incoming ACH credits, if received with a “PPD” entry code from the originating institution, may be treated as a direct deposit and eligible for the Earn & Save service.

During enrollment in Earn & Save, you’ll be asked to tell us the minimum deposit that you want Earn & Save transfers applied to. For example, if you don’t want any savings transfers to occur on deposits below $500, you can set a minimum deposit threshold of $500.

To make sure a savings transfer never causes your Source Account balance to go lower than you’re comfortable with, you’ll be asked to set a minimum balance amount. We require a minimum of at least $50, but you can set your minimum at a higher value that you are comfortable with. So, if you set your minimum balance at $1,000, you would never see a Earn & Save transfer to savings that would bring your Source Account balance below $1,000. Note that if a Earn & Save transfer fails due to the minimum balance rule you’ve established, we will not re-attempt the transfer again. Please note that you should always carefully monitor your transaction activity to make sure your Source Account has a sufficient available balance to cover other transactions that may post to the account in order to avoid overdrafts.

Note that you can edit your Earn & Save preferences at any time by selecting the edit option on the menu of the Earn & Save dashboard in the Citi Mobile® App or Citi® Online. You may also temporarily pause or permanently unenroll from Earn & Save directly from the Earn & Save dashboard. If you choose to pause your Earn & Save transfers, this will pause any scheduled Earn & Save transfers indefinitely until you choose to resume them. Note that pausing or unenrolling from Earn & Save will not stop transfers that are processing at the time that the pause or unenrollment request is made.

You can view your recent Earn & Save transfers on the Earn & Save dashboard in the Citi Mobile® App or Citi Online, which shows Earn & Save transfers that occurred within the last 90 days. By selecting any transfer, you can see details of the direct deposit that is associated with the Earn & Save transfer, including the source of the deposit and the deposit amount. You will also see the portion of the deposit that was transferred to your Destination Account based on your transfer preferences set up at the time of the transfer. You can see older Earn & Save transfers on the Citi Mobile® App and Citi Online by viewing your account statements or transaction history. Your Citi account statements are the official record of your account activity.

If you have other checking transfers scheduled, such as other Ways to Save or other recurring or manual transfers, to be debited from your Source Account on the same day as a Earn & Save Transfer, all transfers will process as intended if your Source Account has the sufficient funds to process the transfer subject to the applicable minimum balance you have chosen. If you have multiple eligible transfers scheduled for the same day, they will be debited from your Source Account from lowest to highest dollar amount. Earn & Save transfers are processed seven days a week and process after a direct deposit reflects as posted on your Source Account transaction ledger in the Citi Mobile® App.  Note that you will not receive advance notice of Earn & Save transfers.
