Innovators@Citi – A look back on 15 years of Citi Ventures

The latest Innovators@Citi featured a panel of venture capital leaders and startup founders to discuss the evolution of fintech and venture capital during the past 15 years.

Arvind Purushotham, Head of Citi Ventures, spoke with Hans Morris, Managing Partner, Nyca Partners, Angela Strange, General Partner, Andreessen Horowitz, Vishwanath T R, Co-Founder and CTO, Glean and Ari Tuchman, CEO, Quantifind, about tectonic shifts in the venture capital landscape over the last two decades.

The discussion, which also included a celebration of Citi Ventures’ 15^th anniversary, focused on the following topics related to innovation in financial services:

• The evolving relationship between banks and fintechs
• The impact of technology, especially AI, on banks, VCs and startups
• The role agentic AI will play in the coming years
• How corporate VC’s have stepped in to play a vital role in funding startups
• What trends and technology are going to take center stage in 2026

Overall, the session provided a unique opportunity to reflect on recent challenges, and opportunities, for startups, founders, investors and enterprises in the financial services space.
