    Move a balance from a non-Citi account to your Citi® credit card. The balance you transfer becomes a part of your Citi card’s monthly revolving balance.

A Citi Balance Transfer is a transaction that allows you to move an unpaid balance from a non-Citi account to your Citi credit card. Once complete, the balance you transferred becomes a part of your Citi credit card’s monthly revolving balance. In some cases a Citi Balance Transfer allows you to transfer funds directly into your checking account using your credit card’s available credit.

Balance Transfers sometimes have promotional APRs for a set duration on the balances you transfer.

For a Balance Transfer offer on a Citi credit card, the maximum amount you can transfer to a Citi credit card with a Balance Transfer depends on your available credit and other factors. Each Balance Transfer offer will indicate how much you can transfer.

You can transfer balances from multiple cards or creditors, provided they do not exceed the limit specified in your selected offer when added together.

For a new credit card account, we will begin processing your Balance Transfer request 14 days after the date your account is opened. You can modify or cancel your Balance Transfer any time during this 14-day period. After the 14-day period, Balance Transfers can take up to 10 days to process.

For an existing credit card account, Balance Transfers can take up to 10 days to process depending on the disbursement method you select.

You should continue to make any required minimum payments to your creditor(s) until you have confirmed that your Balance Transfer has been completed.

Balance Transfers typically require a fee for transferring a balance. This fee is charged as either a percentage of the transferred balance or as a set minimum fee, whichever is greater. The terms of your Balance Transfer offer will provide more information about its specific fee.

You cannot transfer balances from other accounts issued by Citibank, N.A. or its affiliates. If you are unsure of the issuer on the account, you can find a list of Citi-issued accounts here.

We may decline to process your request due to your available credit, creditworthiness, or other factors, or if we suspect fraudulent activity on your credit card account.

To check the status of a Balance Transfer request on your credit card account:


  1. Log in to Citi® Online
  2. Choose “Balance Transfers” under Payments & Transfers
  3. Select “Track the status” of your existing Balance Transfer Request(s)

Balance Transfer requests will display on the status page within 1 business day of the request.

No. Balance Transfers utilize your credit card’s available credit so there are no credit inquiries associated with the transfer.

Terms and Conditions

Any use of this offer is a Balance Transfer. If you use this offer, interest will be charged on purchases unless you pay the New Balance shown on your statement by the due date each month. If your New Balance includes a Citi® Flex Plan, interest will be charged on purchases unless you pay the Adjusted New Balance shown on your statement, plus any Citi Flex Plan Payment Amount, by the due date each month or those purchases have a 0% APR.
