Raven L. Veal, PhD is a Strategic Design Lead for Citi Ventures Studio. She is excited to support the development of equitable product and service experiences as a key objective of Citi’s Action for Racial Equity initiative.
Prior to joining Citi, Raven was a Design Researcher at IBM, where she led and conducted research to produce evidence-based design insights for clinical development solutions. During her time at the company she launched the Watson Health Design Justice Initiative, a grassroots effort dedicated to addressing racial health disparities through digital technologies. She also contributed to the IBM Racial Equity in Design Initiative, leading the development and publication of a leadership guide for design managers.
Raven is a Southwest Angel Network (SWAN) Advisor, supporting angel investors in evaluating healthcare technology companies that apply for funding, as well as a recipient of the 2020 Notley Fellowship, which supports young leaders in making positive social change. She holds a PhD in Behavioral Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center, an MS in Public Health from Texas A&M Health Science Center, and a BA in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She is based in Austin, Texas.
