Protect your accounts from rising scams and fraud
Transfers are a convenient way to send money to other accounts in the U.S. and overseas, but they’re also common tools for scammers. Here are a few tips to ensure your funds are sent securely.
- Always obtain transfer instructions directly from the person or business you’re sending money to. Transfer instructions received via email should be confirmed with a phone call to a trusted number to validate the beneficiary’s details.
- If this is your first time sending a transfer, make sure you’re sending to the right beneficiary because transferred funds may not be recoverable.
- Confirm that you have the payee's correct name, address, account number and payee bank information.
- For security purposes we may prompt you to complete additional verification and provide more information, depending on country or bank-specific requirements.
- Use www.Citi.com/fraudprevention or Security Center the to learn how to protect yourself from common scams and fraud.
