Citi Shared Services Center in Costa Rica Donates 547 Million Colones in Computer Equipment
San José, September 2, 2015. Citi’s Shared Services Center (CSC) in Costa Rica was established in 2008 to support the bank’s financial, human resources and supply chain operations around the world. The center currently employs more than 1500 people and continues to expand.
Corporate social responsibility is an important part of Citi’s corporate culture in Costa Rica, and to this end the CSC has decided to donate used computer equipment (laptops, desktop, headset, servers, printers, switches, dockings, keyboards, and other items) in good condition, valued at 547 million colones,
“We are donating this equipment, which isn’t new but is in good working order, to the Santa Ana Technical School, CEDES Don Bosco, and Corazón de Jesus School in Escazú and the Municipality of Santa Ana, where we know it will be put to good use, because we have a responsibility to help the communities where we have a presence,” said CSC Director Morella Ramírez. “For example, ever since we opened the CSC has supported and volunteered at the Manos Abiertas [Open Hands] organization. It’s a fundamental part of our corporate culture.”
The center plans to make approximately 390 million colones in additional donations over the next few months.
Citi’s Shared Services Center in Costa Rica began with a US $500,000 investment and 25 employees. In 2014, the company invested an additional US $35 million to move and expand the CSC’s operations to the Citi Campus in the El Cafetal Corporate Center in Belén, where it is currently located.
