Some travel websites will allow you to pay with your points or miles when you check out. The Citi Travel® site is a great way to find flights, hotels, attractions and rental cars if you have an eligible Citi ThankYou credit card.
Booking a rental car with points or miles
It’s simple to use points or miles to book a rental car. Here’s how to get started.
Know which points and miles you want to use
First determine which rewards you would like to redeem. You may have points through a rental car company’s loyalty program or miles through an airline’s frequent flier plan. You may also have credit card points you wish to use. If you have a Citi ThankYou® Rewards card, you can redeem ThankYou® Points for your car rental on Citi Travel.
Go to the travel website
If you’re using loyalty points from a rental car company, start on their website. If you have frequent flier miles to redeem, you can search for rental cars on the airline’s site. Start with your credit card company if you plan to use credit card points. If you have an eligible Citi ThankYou card you can log on to the Citi Travel portal using your Citi Online User ID and password or through the Citi Mobile app.
Browse rental cars
Look through the options. Depending on when and where you’re traveling, you may have a lot of cars to choose from or you may be more limited in your selection.
Choose a rental car that suits your needs and budget
Pick a car that works for you. Check that it’s available on the days you need it and that the price is right. If you’re traveling with a large group or with a lot of luggage, be sure to confirm that there are enough seats and trunk space. Most travel sites allow you to filter by these criteria to quickly find a car that fits your needs.
Confirm the details
Before checking out, take a moment to verify that you’ve selected the pickup and drop-off locations, dates and model of car. Double-check that the final price is what you expect.
Pay with points or miles at checkout
When you check out, select the option to pay with points or miles if it’s available. With Citi Travel, if you have an eligible Citi ThankYou card you’ll be given the choice of paying with points, your card or a combination of both.
