Social Ventures

With the support of the Citi Foundation and the Australian Government Department of Social Services, Social Ventures Australia has commenced the Community Schoolyard project with Rooty Hill and Plumpton High Schools in Western Sydney. This collective impact approach is aimed at generating improved school to work transition outcomes for young people.

The Community Schoolyard project will work deeply with both schools and collaborate with a range of community stakeholders including key employers, government, employment and training providers, social service providers and other non-profits to:

  1. Define the unique drivers of youth disengagement and unemployment;
  2. Model the current ecosystem of support, assessing the availability, quality and take up of key services; and
  3. Develop a set of coordinated and interlinked strategies to improve outcomes.

The Community Schoolyard project is inspired by the belief that large-scale social change comes from better cross-sector coordination rather than from the isolated interventions of individual organisations.
