Citi Handlowy Celebrates "Week for Saving" Campaign

Almost 50% Poles Do Not Have Bank Account

On October 29, 2008 a press conference was held which was a culminating moment of the celebrations of the social educational campaign called "Week for Saving." The nationwide campaign has been organized by the Kronenberg Foundation of Citi Handlowy under the patronage of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). Journalists were welcomed by Sławomir S. Sikora, CEO of Citi Handlowy, and the KNF was represented by its Chairperson, Stanisław Kluza.

Stanisław Kluza pointed out that the results of the survey conducted on the occasion of the "Week for Saving" indicate that currently customers tend to trust themselves more than they trust their external advisors.

The results of the survey conducted by Pentor on the occasion of the "Week for Saving" campaign were presented at the conference. According to the opinion poll, 42% of Poles are not afraid of the financial crisis. At the same time, only 14% of our citizens plan their expenses more than one month in advance. Poles do not like high risk financial investments, but their financial knowledge is still not based on professional materials and opinions of experts.

At the conference, the organizers of the campaign also presented a schedule of events and planned activities. As part of the "Week for Saving" more than 2,000 Polish schools received educational sets, and as many as 200 schools have already been actively engaged in the celebrations. Educational materials on the Internet have already been accessed by more than 100,000 people. The campaign is developing dynamically in all regions of Poland.

On October 31, 2008 the worldwide community celebrated the World Savings Day. In many countries around the world, a variety of educational programs were offered to the general public teaching them the importance of effective use of money. This is the second consecutive year that this day has been celebrated in Poland as part of the "Week for Saving" social campaign, which is organized by the Kronenberg Foundation of Citi Handlowy in cooperation with the Think! Foundation and under the patronage of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.
