Citi Handlowy was recognized again for its support to financial education. Last week, the Bank received the award from the Association for Financial Safety in Poland (STOB) for its involvement in and activities to further the financial education of the general public as a part of the corporate social responsibility.
The Association granted the award for the first time this year, on June 24, 2008, at the conference "Financial Institutions for Financial Education," which was jointly organized by STOB and the Chair of Social Insurances at the Warsaw School of Economics, under the auspices of Mr. Stanislaw Kluza, Chairman of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, and the honorary auspices of the European Commission. The conference attempted to diagnose the status of business education and to deepen cooperation between educational institutions and financial companies in building the financial awareness of the Polish society.
Winners were selected from the circle of financial companies that participated in the survey carried out from May 26 to June 14, 2008. The chapter assessed the commitment to spreading the business and financial knowledge within the valid CSR policy.
Citi Handlowy, via the Kronenberg Foundation operating at the bank, has carried out major financial education programs in Poland: My Finances, Banks in Action and Week for Saving Money - addressed to young people from lower secondary schools, as well as innovative classes for children: "From Penny to Pound". Thanks to the financial involvement of the Foundation and volunteer expert effort provided by the bank, over 356,000 students from over 2,400 schools learned ways to manage personal finance.
