Citi Organizes ‘Bring Your Children to Work’ Day

‘Shaping the Future through greater diversity’

Karachi: Citibank Pakistan organized a 'Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day' for its at work, and provides an orientation toward careers at Citigroup through employees as part of its commitment to fostering diversity within the bank. The program has been a tradition at Citigroup since the 1993 and is meant to provide employees' children with an opportunity to observe their parents, relatives, or friends enjoyable and educational activities. Citigroup employees have embraced the day as a time to share their work lives with the young people in the lives.

Organized at the Head Office and the State Life Branch in Karachi, for over 60 children aged between 6 and 12 years, the program focused on introducing the visiting girls and boys to what the adults in their lives do during the work day.

Children arriving at the Head Office and the State Life branch were thrilled to receive their own personal ID card and especially enjoyed the activities arranged for them, from the deposit exercise whereby each child was taught to how to deposit money in an account to how-to-use-an-ATM. A guided tour of all the main functions was next, followed by ‘observation and role play’ exercises and finally a memory game and a drawing competition on ‘where I want to work when I grow up’. The day ended with each child receiving framed photo of theirs with the CCO and CBM and Citi branded gifts.

Speaking at the occasion CCO Zubyr Soomro said “this is an excellent initiative as it enables us to foster diversity but most importantly it is an opportunity for us to show these young people the value of education and the importance of envisioning a future”

"The best part of the day was listening to the kids talk about their dreams for the future," said CBM Musharaf Hai. "They were an incredibly creative and attentive group and gave us a lot of insight in to the future of banking.

"A hallmark of Citigroup’s global leadership in the business community is its commitment to the diversity of its workforce. This initiative like many others planned is intended to foster a culture where the best people want to work, where people are promoted on their merits, where they treat each other with respect, and where opportunities to develop are widely available to all – regardless of differences.
