Roles of an Associate
Roles an Associate may undertake:
- A GWM Operations Associate must pay close attention to details and possess strong analytical skills.
- Accuracy is critical when dealing with large amounts of money where errors could prove costly. While proofing accounts, date and time accuracy is crucial in reconciling and settling thousands of transactions, as most markets have different deadlines.
- Teamwork and communication are essential components of an Associate’s role in Operations and results in working successfully together to achieve departmental targets. Good communication results in increased efficiency and elimination of errors.
- Innovation is very important, as Associates are looked upon to constantly re-engineer existing business processes and achieve efficiencies.
- It is essential the Associate demonstrate solid business partnerships and excellent client service across Global Wealth Management.
- It is important the Associate can define and execute project management deliverables in conjunction with the business sponsor.
- Manage and direct a team of professionals to accomplish overall business objectives.
- Interact and communicate with Senior Management to identify and address specific issues.
- Interpersonal and leadership skills are also important, as we look to develop Associates to become our future leaders.
Our Programs
The Citi GWM Master’s Associate Program offers a fast-track path to becoming a world-class operating platform professional. This opportunity is offered to 7 - 10 exceptional MBA, MS, or MA students per year. As part of this select group, you will be exposed to GWM’s operations, Private Bank services and Private Bank risk and control through a two-year rotational training program. Depending upon your skills and prior experience, your job may involve managing a line function, managing operational risk or participating in a number of strategic projects to support GWM’s sales force and clients. Over two years you will have three rotations, working with a specific team relating to areas such as capital markets operations, securities operations, client reporting, Private Bank services and Private Bank risk and control. Typically you will also have exposure to senior management so that you can learn their insights and perspectives on the dynamic world of financial operations. Currently, all rotations and final placements are located within the United States. However, based on business need, international placements are possible.

Recruitment Process
Citi Global Wealth Management begins the formal Operations recruiting process in September in the form of an on-campus presentation. All students are invited to attend this event to learn about the culture, the business, and the operations function at Citi. Subsequently, job descriptions are posted through university career centers. All students will need to apply via career services with their school as well as to the Citi graduate recruitment website. Once all resumes have been collected and reviewed, a closed, targeted list of first-round interview candidates is compiled. First-round interviews take place in the September-October timeframe and successful interviewees subsequently go directly to Super Day. Citi on-campus interviews are typically 30 - 45 minutes; Super Days typically consist of three to four 30 - 45 minute interviews with a committee of Operations professionals. Offers are given as soon after Super Day as possible.
Stage 1: On-Campus Presentations: beginning in September. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend.
Stage 2: Applications: submitted via your career services AND the Citi website. Campus Recruitment reviews applications.
Stage 3: First-Round Interviews: take place on campus in the September/October time frame. Citi on-campus interviews are typically 30 - 45 minutes.
