Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards
Launched in 2005, the Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards program is a signature initiative of the Citi Foundation aimed at raising awareness about the importance of microentrepreneurship and microfinance in supporting the financial inclusion and economic empowerment of low-income individuals.
The Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards spans more than 30 countries and has invested more than $18.2 million in microfinance networks and microfinance institutions (MFIs). Through the program, $9 million has been awarded in cash prizes to more than 6,000 entrepreneurs. Explore the map below to learn about our past award winners.
A "Microentrepreneur of the Year" is identified in each country and recognized for the extraordinary contributions that the microentrepreneur has made to the economic sustainability of their families as well as their communities.
In select countries, an additional award for "Most Innovative Microfinance Institution" honors a microfinance institution that has created or implemented an innovative product, delivery mechanism or integrated financial education with product offering.
